Some of you know that Barb and I recently have become very excited about the benefits of a system that reverses the effects of Insulin Resistance, the root cause of most chronic illnesses.
When I first looked at this program, I thought, I am not spending $159 a month on some “healthy” beverages. However, when I looked at it closely, I realized that I could do this and it would be cost neutral.
What does that mean?
How many of us spent $5-10 on breakfast? On Saturday mornings I go to McKenna’s restaurant for breakfast. For me, it is really a social event, and it costs around $10. I am still going to do that once a week because I love the guys who I join at the table of knowledge at the restaurant. Many people do something similar every morning. Many of us have a sugary caffeine drink every morning for $5-7. We often need that cup of warmth to get our motors running. Lots of us have a mid-morning snack. A candy bar or a small bag of chips costs $5 or more. I love cookies. I spent $6 on a container of cookies from Meijers for 20 cookies and bought around 5 boxes a month ($30). No more cookies for me. They don’t even look good anymore.
Maybe there is a better option. Using intermittent fasting removes your need for breakfast food every day. The patented ingredients in Unimate increase energy and reduce your appetite for snacks. So, you could save $10-15 a day. Let’s say you do this, no breakfast and snacks for 15 days a month. That saves between $150-225 a month. The fiber in the Balance drink makes you feel full and satisfied faster. Not only does it prevent sugar and insulin spikes, but you will eat less, reducing the cost of meals. No more desire for that second helping.
We are creatures of habit. If we wish for things to change, we must change some of those habits. That is not always easy. So, we must look at the benefits of new habits. In my case, better health, I needed to normalize my blood pressure. How could I do that? I could take medication. There is the cost of medication or the copay. There is a risk of side effects of medications. I could take some herbal remedies. There is a cost. $30 to $50 a month or more. And there is the question of, how well do they work? Or I could attack the root cause. Insulin Resistance. By changing habits, I could actually save some money.
Then there is the cost of treating chronic diseases. Sure, we have insurance, however, the cost of copays, driving to the appointments, the medications, the procedures, the lab tests, etc. It all adds up.
What is the emotional cost of chronic disease? Most of us have a fear of dying. The peace of mind that comes with knowing you are getting healthier is priceless when compared to the fear and anxiety of dealing with a chronic disease.
So, it did not take me long to see the big picture. The $159 a month for an Insulin Resistance Solution was a better bargain than the financial and emotional costs of my habits.
