Foolish, ignorant people indulge in careless lives, whereas a clever man guards his attention as his most precious possession. — Buddha
Your attention, what you think about most of the time, is what creates your life. Most of us in innocent ignorance do not pay any attention to our thoughts; not knowing that what we think about, where we put our attention, is what creates our experiences. Most people will disagree with this idea. It is easier to blame someone else for our unfortunate circumstances. It is also not always easy to accept that we have created the good things that occur.
This concept, that we create our own lives, is foreign to most people. If I said, “We can control the weather.”, nearly every person reading this would disagree. That is how most of us think when I say that we do create our own lives. It is unbelievable. It is unbelievable mostly because, no one ever told us we could. Someone once told me that I could control my dreams. I laughed in his face. Right!? Until I had enough belief that I could control what I dreamt, it was ridiculous to even think that I could do such a thing. However, one night, after a long chase dream, I decided that next time I had a chase dream that I would try it. A few weeks later, after being chased all night, I remembered, “You can control your dreams.” Yes, it worked. I chase the guy back and tied him to a tree like in the cartoons and the chase dream has never recurred in twenty years. Later, during a falling dream, I put out my arms and began to fly. Wow, that was very empowering.
The quantum physicists now agree that we do literally create what we experience, maybe not the weather, but our daily decision making is what creates our future experiences for our personal lives. If you want a better understanding of the quantum physics of all this, then read, David Cameron Gikandi’s book, A Happy Pock Full of Money. There you will see an excellent explanation of how this work. You will also understand how quantum physics and spirituality fit like hand in glove.
For now, just know, that our thoughts become things. Good things and not such good experiences. The good news is that we can learn how to control our thoughts so we get to experience our wishes and desires. And when unfortunate events do occur, we will understand how and why we created those events, so we can clarify what we really, really desire to be, do, and have.
